Treating anorexia nervosa with Hypnotherapy and CBT
Positive anorexia treatment at the Apex Practice
Anorexia nervosa is a highly complex condition that requires careful treatment. We understand how debilitating this condition can be for you and your family. We are here to support you in a caring and sympathetic environment.
The Apex Practice will treat you with a powerful combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and clinical hypnosis.
Start your journey of recovery
Recovery begins with a pre-treatment assessment. During this time we discover the history, social factors, family problems and other underlying issues that may have caused and sustained your anorexia.
Following your assessment, you will be given a treatment programme of 10 therapy sessions (typically), each lasting one hour.
Your therapy will explore childhood memories and the events of your formative years, as well as possible unresolved feelings of guilt. Therapy is a positive step, a process of acknowledging past troubles and moving on toward a brighter future.
Why are CBT and clinical hypnotherapy successful at treating anorexia?
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy provides a potent mix of two mainstream psychotherapies. This dual approach, which tackles the causes of your anorexia on both a conscious and subconscious level proves to be most effective in managing this condition.

About Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia nervosa is a condition that commonly occurs in young women below the age of 30, but may also occur in men. The main characteristics are fear of weight gain to the extent that they will ‘feel fat’ even though they may well be below normal weight. This is a very serious condition and if not appropriately diagnosed and treated hospital admission should be considered to prevent further deterioration.
Dysfunctional family relationships are frequently blamed for this condition. Anorexic-induced starvation can sometimes represent a rebellion against domineering parents or as a weapon with which to manipulate parents.
