Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and clinical hypnosis

Before we treat your fear of spiders we search for the underlying causes of your fear. Your first session with us is a pre-treatment assessment that allows us to get a full understanding of your phobia.

We use a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy to remove your irrational fears. Treatment typically requires four therapy sessions, each lasting one hour.

Why is CBT and hypnotherapy successful at treating arachnophobia?

Combined CBT and hypnotherapy, known as cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, works on several levels. CBT encourages you to recognise that your thoughts are irrational and that your thoughts directly influence your emotions and behaviours.

By incorporating clinical hypnotherapy we also address your subconscious anxieties about spiders.

About arachnophobia

Like most fears and phobias, arachnophobia is created by the subconscious mind as a protective mechanism. At some point in your past, there was most probably an event linking spiders with an emotional trauma. Whilst the original catalyst may have been a real life scare, the condition becomes embedded in the subconscious mind, with the fear becoming exaggerated over time.
