Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy – a positive way forward.
Recovery commences when you attend for a pre-treatment comprehensive assessment. At this session we will explore the nature of your pain and your emotional response to it. We will examine your thoughts and how these influence negative emotions and unhealthy behaviours. We will of course also liaise with your medical advisor.
We will then prepare a therapy programme designed to enhance tolerance of pain and discomfort together with increasing your relaxation skills. These sessions will be based upon REBT and Clinical Hypnotherapy at regular weekly intervals.
Why is REBT and clinical hypnotherapy successful at managing pain and discomfort?
REBT will encourage you to think more positively about yourself, others and life in general. You will begin to recognise that you can achieve a healthier emotional outlook which will provide you with stronger resistance when dealing with pain and its consequences. Our treatment will include a combination of therapies including relaxation, self hypnosis, desensitisation, ego strengthening and where appropriate ‘glove anaesthesia’.
About Pain Management
There are many treatment methods that can reduce or manage your pain. Most pain responds with treatment that usually consists of a combination of medicine and other strategies. It is crucial that you talk to your General Practitioner about your pain to ensure that you are benefiting from appropriate treatments and medication.
