Healing & Pain Management

The pain threshold can vary tremendously from one person to another.  Some people fear pain to such an extent that the moment they are touched they interpret this into a feeling of pain.   This type of person is most likely to be seen in the dental surgery.  Other people can be more resistant to pain.

The ‘feeling’ of pain is a symptom of many conditions and illnesses, and strikes at the root of treatment.  Because of its nature, the feeling of pain embraces every branch of medicine and because of its psychological meaning clinical hypnotherapy is often able to provide an effective respite from deep seated pain.    There is much recorded evidence that hypnosis is an effective form of analgesia and pain management which dates back to the 1840s.

The problems of anxiety and depression also need to be considered in the treatment and management of pain as these psychological symptoms also respond well to cognitive and behavioural therapy.
