Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Overcome obsessive compulsive disorder
With your help I have overcome my OCD and have been able to return to work and lead a normal life once more. – Mr TL, North London
Treat OCD with cognitive behavioural therapy
Recovery commences with a pre-treatment comprehensive assessment. During this session we will learn of the underlying causes or trigger points that activate and maintain your OCD.
Once we have established the origins and patterns of your disorder we will commence CBT over a number of sessions at regular weekly intervals.
Why use CBT to treat OCD?
CBT is aimed at helping you learn that you can control your anxiety without compulsions. You will learn coping strategies such as relaxation exercises, and new ways of thinking that will make you feel less anxious. You will also learn that if you face your fears rather than avoid them, they will go away.
About OCD
People with OCD have obsessions, compulsions or both. Obsessions are thoughts, mental pictures, or impulses that are upsetting but keep returning. Compulsions are actions that people feel they have to perform to keep them from feeling anxious or to prevent something bad from happening.
